This eight-episode adaptation of Stephen King's thriller of the same name saw James Franco step into a role that would see him time-travelling and attempting to stop the assassination of JFK. Mind-bending drama and stellar acting performances ensured that there wasn't a dull moment on-screen, and there were even a few surprise changes thrown in for those who had read the book and thought they knew what to expect.

It seems Shonda Rhimes can do no wrong, as her new television series The Catch has once again enthralled audiences and reeled in a core set of fans who can't wait to see what happens each and every week the show comes to air. Mireille Enos is the perfect woman to lead the series, playing private investigator Alice Vaughan who has a score to settle when she becomes the victim of fraud by her fiancé. Determined to find him and ensure her career doesn't go down the pan, the first season was an exhilarating watch with twists around every turn.

4) Outcast

From the creator of The Walking Dead, Outcast follows the story of Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), a man who was beaten as a child by his mother and then later accused of attacking his own daughter. Plagued by demonic possessions throughout his life, he's forced to team up with Philip Glenister's incredible take of character Reverend Anderson, to try and save others possessed. It's easy to see why Robert Kirkman's creations are such a huge success, as they're both genuinely terrifying, leaving you on the edge of your seat throughout, but ensuring you come back the week after for another dose.

3) The Night Manager

Otherwise known as Tom Hiddleston's audition for the role of James Bond! The Night Manager was an incredible piece of television that's sure to go down in history. Every single person involved in the production and delivery of the show should be proud to call themselves a part of the team, as it showcased some of the world's most beautiful locations and told an inventive and exciting story. This series doesn't make it onto this list for Hiddleston's bare bottom alone - it was a genuinely fantastic series.

2) American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson

Never has the OJ Simpson story been told so brilliantly. One of the most famous criminal cases in all of US history was brought to life once more by Ryan Murphy and a cast of incredible faces, with Cuba Gooding Jr. showing exactly why he's one of the leading actors in the business. Sarah Paulson was another incredible addition as prosecutor Marcia Clark, and the 10-part series quickly became one of the biggest draws for its network FX.

1) Preacher

Gruesome, silly, scary, funny, serious, light-hearted... All of these words and many more can be used to describe Preacher. With Dominic Cooper in the lead role of Texas bad-boy turned preacher Jesse, the series tells a story of a demon-angel hybrid that consumes Jesse's body and allows him to force people to do things they wouldn't usually do. Of course, with every power comes a price and it's not as simple as it may first seem for Jesse. The series has already delivered some beautifully choreographed fight scenes and Cooper isn't the only member of the cast to shine. Joseph Gilgun is fantastic in the role of vampire Cassidy whilst Ruth Negga is above and beyond any bad-ass chick I've seen on TV for some time as Tulip. Comic book culture continues to be on the rise and Preacher shows no signs of allowing it to slow down.
