Vernon (Ian Reddington) is acting suspicious when a strange woman arrives at the Rovers and takes away some record boxes in exchange for some plane tickets. Derek (David Hounslow) turns up and tells a sympathetic Vernon that Linda's chucked him and she wants a divorce.A shocked Liz (Beverley Callard) enters and is worried when she sees them talking. Derek confronts her saying there's no way he is losing everything while she lives happily ever after, the only way he'll keep quiet is if she carries on seeing him but she refuses. He tells Vernon the woman he has been seeing is Liz, how will Vernon react to the news especially when he has just booked them both a surprise holiday?Claire (Julia Haworth) and Ashley (Steven Arnold) return from three weeks at Yvonne’s. Ashley tells Gail (Helen Worth) they had to get back sooner or later and now seemed appropriate as it’s Freddie’s 1st birthday tomorrow. He confirms they’re having a party for him and Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley (Julie Hesmondalgh) join them to talk about the birthday party. They’re excited and want to do all they can to help. Ashley sees Claire is less enthusiastic, but doesn’t draw attention to it in front of the Croppers. Alone with Claire, Ashley hints she needs to make an effort for Freddie, but will Claire be too troubled to help?Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) are house hunting and he is concerned at leaving Jack (William Tarmy) and Vera (Liz Dawn) on their own but Paul (Tom Hudson) insists them he will look after them. They have no luck finding anywhere but Paul has made them dinner which Tyrone refuses. Later in the Rovers, Paul introduces himself to Sean while Molly tells Tyrone to start giving him a break as the longer he stays, the easier it'll be for them to move out.

Gail complains to environmental health about Daryl (Jonathan Dixon) playing his guitar to loud.
