After her confrontation with her son Deano, Shirley's near future doesn't bode well as she hits the bottle and sets off on a drunken mission to get some of her children's keepsakes back from the Butchers', later making a move on Phil who's shocked and annoyed to see what's she becoming.

Meanwhile, the reopening of the restaurant sees the locals rally round in support of Ian, giving him something to focus on.

However, during the preparations Peter is told by the police that Lucy's body has now been released to the coroner, and so to avoid more setbacks he decides to tell his father after the opening, only for Ian to hear him speaking to Denise secretly about it.
