Rosalind (Philippa Howell) comes to see Pollard (Chris Chittell) and stuns him by revealing some photos of them kissing the day before. After reading the blackmail note demanding 5 grand to keep quiet, Pollard begs Rosalind to pay the money so Val (Charlie Hardwick) won't find out. Rosalind instructs Pollard to find the blackmailer's identity but when he begins his search later, David (Matthew Wolfenden) interrupts and sees the photographs. David warns Pollard that he must give Rosalind the money from the Kings and the councillor is pleased to have avoided further controversy. But will the blackmailer be so easily satisfied?Meanwhile, Ashley (John Middleton) is unsure when Hilary (Paula Wilcox) presses ahead with Daniel's funeral arrangements and worries for Laurel's (Charlotte Bellamy) state of mind. When the Bishop (Peter Cartwright) arrives, Laurel can't cope and rushes out. Arriving at the cemetery, Laurel finds two men digging Daniel's grave and with nowhere else to go she decides to visit Greg (Shaun Prendergast). After he urges Laurel to find her inner strength she goes back home and says that the funeral can proceed but only she and Ashley are welcome for the burial.Elsewhere, Shadrach (Andy Devine) heads over to Sam's (James Hooton) bedsit to find him worn out. Offering an explanation, a terrified Sam tells Shadrach that he's watching Samson (Ben Shooter) every single moment in case he dies like Daniel. A sympathetic Shadrach tells Sam to enjoy each moment with his son and then offers to watch Samson while Sam rests. Returning home later, an emotional Shadrach confides in Zak (Steve Halliwell) that he's dreading Daniel's funeral. Will Shadrach find the strength to say goodbye to his godson?
