Hollyoaks have always been one soap daring enough to deal with issues that teens can identify with, but it seems they are pushing their scriptwriters to the limits with one of their darkest storylines to date this Christmas.
The story begins when a new character, Chrissy, is introduced to the village, and meets up with her old pal Loretta, who is less than impressed at the arrival of her ‘old friend.’
Anyway, to cut a long story short, it turns out that the pair were sent down after killing a child when they were 12, and after serving time in prison, were given new identities and left to lead their lives.
Whilst sources at the show claim that the storyline has been thoroughly researched, there are bound to be a few angry viewers as it strongly reflects the case in which James Bulger, two, was abducted and killed by 10-year-olds Robert Thompson and Jon Venables in 1993.
