To dream about fasting suggests that you are intentionally depriving yourself of something in your waking hours.

This could be a literal dream which refers to food or it might represent something else- what do you feel you have lost or are losing?

Although this may sound like a negative thing- perhaps you are doing it because it will benefit you in the long term and you knew this from the outset but still feel sad all the same.

You may be enduring a short, sharp burst of displeasure in order to better yourself or achieve something greater. Will it make you stronger or happier once you reach the other side? If so, try to remind yourself of this fact when you feel your focus slipping.

If the dream felt negative, perhaps you resent having to give something up even if it’s only for a short space of time. You may have a strong attachment to whatever it is you are walking away from.

How can you get over the thing you feel you can’t live without?

On the other hand, if the dream felt positive, you may be pleased that you have been able to gain some control over your life once again by omitting this thing from it.

It’s possible you have found this exercise in deprivation to be easier than you thought you would.

On the flipside, you may have found it trying to say the least and are struggling to let go.

If you were fasting intermittently in your dreamscape perhaps what you yearn for is a life cleanse.

You may need a break from something to clear your system of it completely.

Perhaps it has become so commonplace that you need to see it as a treat rather than something that is necessary in the everyday.

If you dreamed about fasting- you may be punishing yourself for something you’ve done lately and it’s unnecessary.

The dream might be telling you not to be so hard on yourself.

The physical and mental demands you are placing on yourself may be doing more harm than good.

Another interpretation is that you are doing something at a pace you can’t keep up with.

Perhaps you need to slow down to give yourself a fighting chance to reach the end goal.

Is this speed self imposed or put on you by an outside source?

Is someone else trying to rush you before you are ready?

This could be a relationship with someone who is two paces ahead of you or a superior who is expecting you to complete a task long before it’s physically possible to.

Alternatively, are you taking your time on something that you can’t afford to?

Do you need to speed up and get something done but instead you are dragging your heels?
