BlizzCon 2018 today revealed a McCree-centric animated short, that showed the gunslinger going up against the Deadlock Gang in a bid to take whatever it is that's been lurking in the capsule at Route 66. You can check out the brilliant piece of animation below:
Whilst it looks like those aiming their guns at the original Overwatch hero were once on good terms with him, their hunt for spoils as outlaws has brought them to a head with the BAMF.
Those who guessed Athena were almost correct, but the mysterious robot within the Route 66 capsule was in fact named as Echo. She seemed very familiar with McCree, but knew nothing about Winston being a monkey.
On her way to meet the team, many expected her to be announced immediately after as the 29th playable hero, but that honour went to another character introduced in this short - Ashe.
Not only that, but it was revealed that Ashe's ultimate would bring her destructive omnic companion Bob onto the field - we can't wait to see how all of that plays out.
