Constantly looking down is putting strain on the neck

Do you spend quite a portion of the day checking your mobile phone or tablet computer? - Then you could be suffering from a new condition dubbed 'text neck'.

Chiropractors have warned that there is a steady rise of this because more and more people are spending considerable amounts of time straining their neck whilst looking at their devices.

This can lead to permanent arthritic damage if it goes without treatment.

One chiropractor said her company had treated thousands of patients for the conditiong, whih can also result in headaches and shoulder, arm and wrist pain.

Rachael Lancaster, of Freedom Back Clinics in Leeds, told the Daily Telegraph: "Text neck is caused by the neck being flexed for a prolonged perios time.

"Sufferers are increasing as the use of smart phones and tablet computers become more popular.

"If people continue to put their necks in these positions, the body will gradually adapt to the stresses."
