What apps do you use?

The apps we download onto our phone can be surprisingly revealing according to psychological coach Nick Jankel.

Hidden character traits like competiveness or ambition can be discovered just by looking at the types of apps you use every day. Curious to know what your apps say about you? Nick worked with the mobile operator Three and tells all below…

Photography apps (e.g. Instagram) You are creative, artistic but above all sociable and you love life. You see the beauty in the every-day and are keen to share the best moments of your life, with your friends and family.

Gaming apps (e.g. Angry Birds, Draw Some) Play is the name of your game. Your playful but competitive personality traits manifest positively with a desire to improve your skills and win - whether against yourself or others.

Shopping apps (e.g. Ebay, ASOS) Friends envy your wardrobe but probably not your bank balance. A fashionista through and through, you are always on the hunt for a bargain and keeping up with the latest trends.

Ebooks apps (e.g. Amazon Kindle) You are a dreamer with a wild imagination. While you love to escape into a good read you also like to use your free time to learn new things to better yourself.

Health & fitness apps (e.g. Nike running / Calorie Counter) You want to feel good. You want to look good. You want to stay healthy. You may also feel slightly smug that you can wax lyrical about how good your latest running app is.

News and gossip apps (e.g.Perez Hilton) If you are honest with yourself, you’re a bit of a gossip. You have an insatiable appetite for information, with your finger on the pulse and like to keep your mates in touch with what's going on in the world.

Work related apps ( e.g. LinkedIn) You work hard and play hard. You are ambitious, strive to be the best that you can be and understand that networking is the key to a successful career.

Cooking/ recipe apps (e.g. Jamie Oliver) You are the caring ‘mother hen’ of your social circle, always on hand with a kind word and a cuppa. A perfectionist at heart, nothing delights you more than putting together an amazing spread for the people you care about.

Going out apps (e.g. Bar Chick, Hailo taxi) Vivacious and sociable, that’s how your friends would describe you. Always the life and soul of the party, you ensure that your crowd hit the best parties and are never stuck for fun things to do.
