The study found that vitamins helped fertility

Vitamins could be the answer to boosting fertility, according to new research.

A study conducted by the University College of London found that 60 per cent of women taking supplements, whilst undergoing IVF treatment, became pregnant, compared to just 25 per cent  who didn’t.

It looked at 56 women who were planning on starting a family; half were given vitamins and the other was given folic acid supplements. The results concluded that the women given the supplements were more likely to conceive.

The research, published in the journal Reproduction Biomedicine, also found that women taking the micronutrient pill needed fewer attempts at IVF to become pregnant and were less likely to miscarry in the first three months.

Dr Rina Agrawal, lead researcher, explains: “All women considering pregnancy should take a specifically formulated prenatal micronutrient supplement to optimize their chances of conception."
