The first waterproof hearing instrument

The first waterproof hearing instrument has been launched.

Siemens Hearing Instruments launched the new design to enable people with an hearing impairment who use energetic activity day-to-day.

The instrument is protected from water, perspiration and dirt and designed to be worn when carryning out a number of different pyhsical activities - including, swimming, running or mountain biking.

"It is challenging for people with hearing problems to find a device that matches their active lifestyle - that is exactly why Siemens has developed Aquaris," says Nicola Webster, Retail Product Manager at Siemens Hearing Instruments.

"The Aquaris' special casting enables this instrument to be waterproof and also guards against impacts and jolts that can occur when playing sport or exercising. As a result, Aquaris ensures the wearer can actively enjoy every decibel of life to the fullest," she continues.

A sports clip prevents it from slipping during exercise and the special design makes it virtually shockproof.
