Lily Cole on October's French Playboy

Lily Cole appears naked on the cover of French Playboy with just a teddy bear to protect her modesty

The model, who is usually photographed wearing designer clothes on the catwalk, wears just a pair of socks and pigtails and pouts seductivly into the camera.

Inside the magazine, 20 year old Lily poses in a variety of raunchy shots across a 14 page spread.

The shoot is inspired by the cover of French musician Serge Gainsbourg's 1971 album Histoire de Melody Nelson but the pictures have caused controversy among Christian groups who feel the pictures are degrading to Marks and Spencer's, as Lily is the face of their Limited Collection.

French Playboy's fashion director Alex Aikiu revealed that Lily's interview is "very intimate, very psychological".

He told The Sun: "For us, Playboy isn't Pamela Anderson. It doesn't matter how big your boobs are - it's about what's inside the woman.

"It's all about being sweet and innocent."

The pictures have not upset Marks and Spencer's though, they have confirmed they will continue to work with Lily saying: "She is a popular, high profile, model who is very much in demand, and this is one of the key reasons why we have chosen to work with her.

"It's entirely her own choice as to what other work she accepts and we would not wish to interfere with her career."
