With less new movies coming out today, we might have to rewatch a few to keep us entertained! Why not check out these top 10 action and adventure films with ratings over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes?

10. Logan – 93%

Hugh Jackman’s journey as the beloved Wolverine ended back in 2017, with a very heroic death.

The score for this film may be a little overzealous however, even though the film did show Logan’s more caring side and will to sacrifice himself at the end.

Despite these moments, and the perfect acting, it must be said that Logan dragged a little, and the colour palette of sandy browns mixed with, well, more brown, made the film a little boring to look at.

While it is a great film and worth the watch to finish Logan’s journey, it is a film you will probably only watch once.

9. Thor: Ragnarok – 93%

The third instalment in Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) solo films from 2017 was nothing short of absolute genius.

Taika Waititi’s vision for this film more than came to life, with beautiful vibrant colours, an excellent cast, and an absolutely fantastic plot line – this film deserved more than 93%.

Thor: Ragnarok may be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) best films to-date; the comedy that follows the perfect rapport of every character, from Korg (Taika Waititi) and Miek (Stephen Murdock), to Thor and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).

This film is amazing in every way, and definitely deserves a higher score as the inclusion of Jeff Goldblum and his dry comedy just adds even more hilarity into an already brilliant film.

8. Dunkirk – 93%

Another film from 2017, and yet another brilliant offering for that year.

The narrative, following three different characters at three seperate times makes the film flow, allows it to stay interesting, and keep your eyes firmly fixated on the screen.

The musical score is absolute genius, as it perfectly matches the horrors occurring within the film. The intensity of this music coupled with the characters struggling with what is happening to them is very well thought out and adds to this film brilliantly.

The score for this film is well-deserved, as plot, music and the realism set into it makes it a must-see.

7. Wonder Woman – 93%

From 2017 yet again, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is a fantastic introduction of this character into the DC universe.

From Diana’s expertise on fighting and weapons, to her naivety regarding how humans interact with each other, it is a wonder to watch as she steers her way right into a War after leaving her sacred home, Themyscira.

The powerful music paired with Diana (Wonder Woman) is phenomenal as she embodies strength and a want for peace, even if that comes at a price.

The action scenes are often alleviated with calmer moments such as when Diana sees snow for the first time after a battle which paves the way to the big finale.

93% is a decent score, but upping the score by just a few more percent may match this film’s brilliance.

6. Avengers: Endgame – 94%

For a film that has been essentially 10 years in the making, and a plot more or less starting from Iron Man all the way back in 2008 – this film is one to watch.

Coming out in 2019, Endgame is a fantastic and well-rounded conclusion to the collective journey of The Avengers. With the brilliant addition of time travel this film does astonishingly well to track everything going on.

From the Avengers on earth, to the Guardians wondering the cosmos, then to Tony Stark (Robert Downey. Jr) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) stranded in space following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, you see everything you need to see.

This film really deserves nothing less than 100%, as the visuals and perfect CGI, comedy ice breakers, and the inclusion of every character, major or supporting, this film truly is the perfect film as everything is tied up and we experience both loss and victory – it is worth watching every other Marvel film just to watch this one.

5. Coco – 97%

2017 was a brilliant year for films, as this movie also released in that year, giving audiences something else to enjoy.

Coco is a pure, heart-warming family flick with beautiful animation and a different take on family. After he finds himself in the land of the dead, Miguel (voiced by Anthony Gonzales) makes it his mission to find out his family’s history before he must leave this place.

While comedy plays a huge role in this family favourite, the deep and dark moments are what makes this film special. The astounding bright colours and fun plot of this film are beautifully balanced by the deep and meaningful moments we see.

The score for this film is perfect, and this film’s mixture of comedy and profound moments making it a wonderful family experience.

4. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – 97%

Another recent release back in 2018, this film blew audiences away with its unique and striking art style.

The film follows Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) as he discovers he isn’t the only Spider-Man out there. There are a mass of characters, such as Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), and Spider-Man Noir, voiced by the one and only Nicholas Cage.

They group together to save the multi-verse, in an epic action-packed movie. The plot, visuals and cast are all fantastic and make this film stand out.

While 97% is a great score, the film itself isn’t quite up there at the top simply because there are other movies out there that better deserve a rating this high – that doesn’t mean, however, that this film isn’t one to watch.

3. Mad Max: Fury Road – 97%

The oldest film on this list by only five years, this 2015 film quickly became a fan-favourite and was named the number one best movie of the past decade by Empire Magazine.

Everyone loves a post-apocalyptic, action-driven film which may be why audiences loved this film so much. With names like Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, this film does not disappoint.

The film’s hail Mary it seems is Theron’s performance. This movie fully deserves it’s rating, if not a higher one simply for the portrayal of Theron’s character; she is not portrayed as a sexy, big-breasted woman with no character development – it is the exact opposite.

Theron displays perfectly that women can be strong, covered in mud and kick some ass just as well as everyone else, and serves as a great reminder that after a battle and rolling around in mud and sand, you will most likely not look your best; other films kind of seem to miss that part out.

2. Mission Impossible: Fallout – 97%

Tom Cruise reprises his role as the iconic Ethan Hunt once again in the 2018 flick, the sixth instalment in the franchise. This film really does deserve that 97% rating.

Not only is Cruise back, but other names such as Simon Pegg return too – not to mention the addition of Henry Cavill (Batman V Superman).

This film is non-stop action and with its successful background of five other films in the franchise behind it, would we expect anything less? The mission this time is to stop terrorists blowing up nuclear cores, which could kill millions of people.

Hunt and his team go on a perilous and entertaining journey to stop them, and Cruise makes this film brilliant with doing most if not every stunt himself, breaking his foot in the process.

1. Black Panther – 97%

This film was outstanding, resulting in its massive success. Releasing in 2018, it can be said from the very start that 100% is the only rating this movie should receive.

With a truly stunning cast including Andy Serkis, Michael B Jordan, Angela Bassett, the film excels whenever the late Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther appears in the titular role.

The simple fact of why this film is worth a high rating than it was given, is because it has heart. The love, care and attention put into the plot really comes through, and even if the film is about one family member versus another, the inclusion of family throughout every aspect of this film is incredible.

As well as family, there is friendship, trust, and acceptance followed by the beauty that is Wakanda, Black Panther’s home. This film inspired so many, and was a true testament to the power of cinema and the power of the MCU.
