As the year moves on into April, we can once again get enthusiastic about the month to come. There are many things to be excited about, such as Easter Sunday; and of course the many movies being released on streaming services throughout this month – here are some of the best!

Concrete Cowboy – Netflix

Tomorrow (April 2nd) will see the release of Concrete Cowboy¸ starring Idris Elba and Caleb McLaughlin.

Cole (McLaughlin) discovers the world of horseback riding after he moves in with his estranged father, Harp (Elba), in North Philadelphia.

The film seems to be modelled after old westerns, as the genre is said to be an American Western drama.

It appears that we are set to learn some harsh truths and witness the coming of age for a young boy who has bonded with his father; Elba seems perfect for the role of a disgruntled dad, and we cannot wait to see the journey he and his son take together.

Thunder Force – Netflix

Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer star in Thunder Force, a different kind of superhero film releasing on April 9th.

Lydia Berman (McCarthy) and Emily Stanton (Spencer) have been best friends since they were children. They live in a world where having superpowers is quite common.

However, the friends only reunite after one of them concocts a treatment that gives them both powers. This movie seems to be full of genuine laughs and jokes, and the duo of McCarthy and Spencer will no doubt be a brilliant one.

With Jason Bateman joining the ladies and starring as The Crab, it’s crystal clear that this film is one to mark on your calendar as it seems it’ll be one you won’t want to miss.

Stowaway – Netflix

Anna Kendrick plays Zoe in the new sci-fi thriller set to make its way onto Netflix on April 22nd.

Zoe and the others on board for the mission, notice a stowaway who accidentally knocked himself out and has ended up joining the crew’s voyage to Mars.

The team were heading to the Red Planet to attempt to find a way for the human race to live there. Now, they have a choice to make – they must either turn back to Earth and risk their mission, or continue to Mars and risk their lives.

We are super excited to see Kendrick in this lead role, and are desperate to find out what the crew will decide upon when faced with tough choices.

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse – Amazon Prime Video

Michael B. Jordan, who played the villain Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther, stars in the lead role in Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, heading to Amazon Prime Video on April 30th.

Jordan plays John, a Navy Seal, on a mission to seek both justice and revenge after the murder of his pregnant wife – only to find that this journey will pull him into a conspiracy much bigger than he ever thought.

Jordan is no doubt an excellent actor, and seeing him in the role of a grieving father will be absolutely amazing. We aren’t sure what we’ll be in for with this flick, which is a sign of an intriguing film.

We hope that Jordan’s character gets his justice, but we will have to wait to find out at the end of the month.

Things Seen and Heard – Netflix

Amanda Seyfried and James Norton star in Things Seen and Heard, an exciting horror that will be available to watch on Netflix from April 30th.

Married couple Catherine and George (Seyfried and Norton), move to the Hudson Valley only to find it has a sinister feel.

Their marriage begins to feel as though it has a darker significance, and artist Catherine is not feeling so at home anymore.

The couple’s home is also something that worries them, which seems to be a horror staple – it will of course be interesting to see if this haunted home stand out.

Everyone loves a twisted horror story, so we cannot wait to see Seyfried and Norton act together in this menacing movie.
