Tim Burton's latest gothic horror movie, musical Sweeney Tod: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has stormed the UK box office in it's opening weekend.The film, which stars Johnny Depp as the murdering barber and Helena Bonham Carter as his pie-making accomplice Mrs Lovett, slashed the competition knockinglast week's number one Alien vs Predator: Requiem off the top spot.The big screen adaptationof Stephen Sondheim's hit stage musical receieved three Oscar nominations, including Best Actor for Depp.It also won Best Film (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor in a A Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes but was overlooked at the BAFTA's.The only other new entry in this week's chart was In The Valley of Elah, which made its debut at number ten.1.
