Paul Feig has taken to Twitter to release the first image of the proton pack from the new Ghostbusters movie.

Filming is underway on the latest Ghostbusters film and will Feig back in the director's chair and on writing duties; having teamed up with Katie Dippold.

The proton pack is one of the most iconic pieces of equipment in the original movies and it is great to see that it will be making a comeback this time around.

Feig took to Twitter to give fans a little teaser... but really what we want is a first look at the brand new cast:

A terrific cast has been assembled for the film, as Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones will take on the role of the Ghostbusters. Chris Hemsworth is the latest name to be added to the cast list and will be the receptionist for the Ghostbusters.

This will be the fourth collaboration between director Feig and McCarthy, having already enjoyed huge critical and box office success with Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy in recent years.

Filming is well underway on the highly anticipated new film, but we are going to have to wait a year before the movie hits the big screen - it really will be one of the biggest movies of next summer.

At the moment, nothing is known about the film's plot and everyone is itching to see where Feig and co take this iconic franchise.

Ghostbusters will be released on 22nd July 2016 in the U.S. and a UK release date is yet to be announced.
