Yesterday (December 9th, 2021), Starzplay announced that their post-apocalyptic show, Station Eleven, will premiere in late January next year (2021) on the streaming platform in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, and Switzerland.
Station Eleven, which is based on the international bestseller of the same name written by Emily St. John Mandel, spans multiple timelines and tells the tales of survivors of a disastrous flu, as they try to recreate and reimagine their world, all while attempting to keep hold of what has been lost.
The series will run for 10 episodes, and will no doubt be filled with drama, stunning landscapes and a deep, thrilling story.
Station Eleven stars Mackenzie Davis (Irresistible, Terminator: Dark Fate, Halt and Catch Fire), Himesh Patel (Yesterday, The Luminaries) Daniel Zovatto (Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Here and Now), David Wilmot (The Crown, The Alienist, Ordinary Love), Matilda Lawler (Flora & Ulysses), Philippine Velge (Summer of 85, Doctors) Nabhaan Rizwan (1917, Informer) and Lori Petty (Point Break, A League of Their Own, Shameless).
BAFTA and Golden Globe Award nominee Gael Garcìa Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle, The Motorcycle Diaries, Y tu mamá también) also stars, as well as Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall, P-Valley) who appear in recurring roles.
This a great cast for a series such as this one, and the premise of the show itself is something beloved by audiences around the world, so it is likely that it will be successful upon release.
Station Eleven was created for TV by Patrick Somerville (Maniac, The Leftovers) with Paramount Television Studios serving as the studio. The series is executive produced by Somerville, who also serves as showrunner.
The poster revealed for Station Eleven looks fantastic; a harsh, snowy setting is seen in the background, and it seems as though worry and doubt are major themes within the upcoming series.
Shows such as this one will seemingly be forever popular, and there may never not be a market for it. So, while audiences wait on a trailer and more information, the poster and cast list will hopefully be enough to keep fans excited until the series premieres.
Station Eleven will debut on Starzplay on Sunday, January 30th, 2022.
