We're halfway through the year, and whilst we've already seen some hugely impressive flicks up on the big screen, there are a load more to come in the next six months. Here are our picks of what you should be looking out for across the 29 weeks left of 2019...

15. Men in Black: International (June 14)

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson team up in a brand new instalment to the Men in Black franchise, as the organisation goes international. Tackling aliens has always been a huge challenge, but when a mole infiltrates the company that's tasked with protecting the world, the agents are tasked with their most difficult mission to-date. Kumail Nanjiani, Rebecca Ferguson, Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois, Emma Thompson and Liam Neeson all also star, with a screenplay written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

14. Toy Story 4 (June 21)

Though it looked as if Toy Story 3 would serve as the final addition to the Toy Story series, Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang are reuniting for what really could be their last outing. With flashbacks to their younger years, as well as an overarching plot that introduces a new toy - Forky - to proceedings, this looks like another heartwarming adventure which will delight children and adults alike, across the globe.

13. Spider-Man: Far From Home (July 5)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no sign of slowing down, with Tom Holland's Peter Parker donning the Spider-Man suit once more, and going up against some more major threats. Jake Gyllenhaal joins the MCU as Mysterio in the movie, and from what we've seen of him so far, his performance is going to be a memorable one.

12. Midsommar (July 7)

Hereditary writer and director Ari Aster returns to the director's chair for upcoming thriller Midsommar, starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgran, Archie Madekwe, Ellora Torchia and Will Poulter. The film follows a couple who travel to Sweden and visit their friend's rural hometown, which is hosting its midsummer festival. The idyllic retreat quickly takes a violent turn however, when a pagan cult steps in to cause chaos.

11. The Lion King (July 19)

One of the most celebrated Disney films of all time has been given the live-action treatment, and makes its return to the big screen this summer. An (almost) all-new cast comes together, including Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Donald Glover and Chiwetel Ejiofor, joining original Mufasa voice actor James Earl Jones, in one of the most star-studded cinematic offerings of 2019.

10. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (July 26)

Quentin Tarantino revisits 1969 Los Angeles in his upcoming movie, using the backdrop of the Manson Family murders to tell a story about TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). This is the writer-director's ninth feature-length film, and one that features a huge ensemble cast as well as multiple storylines, culminating in what's said to be a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood's golden age.

9. IT: Chapter Two (September 6)

Director Andy Muschietti reunites the Losers Club 27 years after the horrific events that happened in the first IT movie, bringing them back to Derry to face down the evil that almost took each of their lives during their first confrontation. After making such a huge box office success in 2017, Muschietti will be hoping to repeat numbers and perhaps even blow them out of the water with this follow-up, which continues to adapt the Stephen King novel of the same name.

8. Joker (October 4)

Todd Phillips directs Joaquin Phoenix as the titular villain in an origins story for a DC character who has up to this point had their past completely shrouded in secrecy. Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz and Frances Conroy are all also amongst the Joker cast, in a movie which could completely reinvigorate the audience perception of modern-day DC movies.

7. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (October 18)

Angelina Jolie finally steps back into the shoes of Disney villain Maleficent, bringing layers of emotion and understanding to a character that was once just seen as an evil witch. Picking up several years after the first movie, Mistress of Evil will continue to explore the complex relationship between Maleficent and Princess Aurora, who will soon become Queen. Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor all star.

6. Terminator: Dark Fate (October 31)

Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger return as Sarah Connor and T-800 in the highly-anticipated new Terminator movie, Dark Fate. Following on from the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, director Tim Miller and filmmakers James Cameron and David Ellison all collaborate to give die-hard Terminator fans the sequel they deserve. Let's hope they don't disappoint!

5. Charlie's Angels (November 15)

Elizabeth Banks hasn’t given us a trailer of her Charlie’s Angels reboot just yet, but we can rest assured that it’ll be an exciting and glamorous affair when it comes to the big screen before the end of 2019. Naomi Scott and Kristen Stewart join Banks to fill the ranks as the three titular leads, with Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo and Patrick Stewart all also set to star.

4. Frozen 2 (November 22)

Disney have been making us wait for this one, and you’ve got to believe that’s because of the immense pressure surrounding the Frozen sequel and the success that will be expected of all involved. Not much has been revealed in regards to the plot of Frozen 2, but fans can expect to see Anna, Elsa and their group of friends set off on an epic adventure for the ages.

3. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20)

The end is near, as the final instalment to the latest Star Wars trilogy drops in cinemas before the year is done. Daisy Ridley returns to front proceedings, and filmmaker J.J. Abrams will be hoping for a warmer audience reception than the one that was given to Rian Johnson for 2017 release, The Last Jedi.

2. Cats (December 20)

We’ve had no snippets, teasers or trailers, but the incredible cast coming together for the big screen adaptation of the musical Cats is more than enough to hype up the arrival of the film in December of this year. Expect Jennifer Hudson to steal the spotlight on this one; the woman’s got some of the most impressive powerhouse vocals imaginable!

1. Sonic The Hedgehog (December 26)

He’s currently undergoing a bit of a refresh in the special effects studio, so putting aside Sonic’s creepy look for a minute, we’re super excited about seeing a fresh video game character come to the big screen on Boxing Day. Jim Carrey also looks brilliant as the villainous Doctor Robotnik; there will be some memorable one liners coming from his direction, we’re sure!

We're also looking ahead to 2020, as studios waste no time in announcing release dates for upcoming movies whether they're in this year or the next. With all of that in mind, here are 10 films set to come to UK cinemas at some point next year...

10. Mulan (March 27, 2020)

Disney continue to adapt their classics into live-action flicks moving into 2020, and one of those we’re most looking forward to seeing the result of is Mulan. Niki Caro directs, with Yifei Liu taking on the titular role, whilst Donnie Yen stars as Commander Tung, and Jet Li tackles the role of The Emperor. Expect big box office bucks from this one!

9. Bond 25 (April 8, 2020)

Daniel Craig is back for what many believe will be his final outing as James Bond, whilst Rami Malek will play the villain in the still-untitled 25th Bond movie. We’ve got almost a year to go until we see what happens to the world’s most famous secret agent, but hopefully the final product will be worth the wait.

8. A Quiet Place 2 (May 15, 2020)

Horror movies are a dime a dozen, so it took something special from John Krasinski to set the world alight with A Quiet Place. Taking one of the film’s leading roles alongside Emily Blunt in the movie, this is a largely silent flick (the clue’s in the title), and one that will be very hard to follow up successfully. With Krasinski behind the sequel however, we’ve got high hopes.

7. Artemis Fowl (May 29, 2020)

Based on the book of the same name by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl is directed by Kenneth Branagh, and follows the story of the titular 12-year-old genius. As a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, he soon finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a hidden race of powerful fairies, who could be behind his father's disappearance. Josh Gad and Judi Dench are amongst the stars involved in this new Disney flick.

6. Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5, 2020)

Following the huge success of the first Wonder Woman movie, director Patty Jenkins will be returning for the sequel, with Gal Gadot once again stepping into the shoes of the leading hero. As one of the most prominent female superheroes on the planet, Wonder Woman is an inspiration for millions across the globe. We’re sure another outing with the DC character will bring smiles to the faces of all watching.

5. Morbius (July 21, 2020)

With filming taking place in the middle of Manchester a little earlier this year, and Jared Leto tackling the role of Marvel character Morbius, the Living Vampire, comic book fans are waiting with high anticipation to check out this film from Sony’s Marvel Universe, when it hits the big screen in around 13 months.

4. Death on the Nile (October 9, 2020)

Make sure you check out the brilliant Murder on the Orient Express from 2017 before Death on the Nile comes to cinemas in 2020, as Kenneth Branagh returns in the leading role of Hercule Poirot. He’s joined by such stars as Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, and Letitia Wright, in what promises to be another mysterious and jaw-dropping crime thriller.

3. Black Panther 2 (TBA)

We will of course be seeing T’Challa return, after the incredible response to the first Black Panther movie. Whilst it’s currently slated for release in 2020, anything could happen, so don’t be surprised if this one gets pushed back.

2. Black Widow (TBA)

Scarlett Johansson finally gets a solo flick, in what’s expected to be a movie based on a clone of the hero. Not much has been officially unveiled, but that would certainly be an interesting direction to go in - and one that sticks closely to the Marvel comics!

1. Uncharted (TBA)

Uncharted the movie seems to be a little stuck right now. Tom Holland will play Nathan Drake, in what we assume to be an origins story of sorts because of his age, but apart from that we’ve not heard too much about how things are coming along. Gamers are excited to see the feature, hopefully sooner rather than later!
