Solistice look set to take the UK by storm

With over 100 songs to their name, it’s about time Solistice released their own EP. Well the wait is finally over, so crank up the speakers and submit to the sound of downright dirty dancefloor smashers!

Solistice, who were originally known as Overtype, formed in early 2006 as a side scheme of metal artist AsSkiesFall. They became a full-time project later in the year and with it they changed their name to Redcell before the band finally settled on Solistice in June 2007.

The album itself has been produced and mastered by Jon and Matt Maynard, two brothers from Stalybridge, Manchester and features performances by Joe Brindle who works under the stage name Krafty_pk. Using his laptop and midi equipment, Joe, from Preston, Lancashire aims to bring each and every one of you an incredible live dance music experience.

The band’s inspiration for the album begun in the ever-popular metal scene before spreading into Drum and Bass as their taste in music matured, Joe said; “All of our backgrounds in Solistice lie in the metal scene. My influences are bands such as Pantera and Metallica but over the past five years my musical tastes have began to expand as I began to listen to artists like Amon Tobin, Venetian Snares, Rotator, Dizzee Rascal and Linkin Park as well as many more, in fact, the list is endless!”

Matt and Jon have spent the past 18 months working relentlessly to create a unique sound of uplifting vocal tracks mixed with hard-hitting beats, with their main ethos being the burning desire to bring a new flavour to the drum and bass scene which is becoming increasingly saturated with the same old stuff. The band pride themselves on having their own sound and hope to bring something new to the scene which people can enjoy and embrace, and their hard work has definitely paid off!

There is no doubt that the album is as diverse as it could be with high-energy tracks such as “Hypocrite” and “Twist the Knife” being perfectly suited to get you hyped up for a night out whilst fluid vocal tracks such as ''innocence'' have a very liquid vibe with a great melody and some beautiful vocals soaring over the top.

Joe revealed that his personal favourite track from the album is ''Speedfreak'' and says; “Its intro builds up slowly into an aggressive punchy bassline melody which rolls through with sharp drums and dirty stabs, before the song shifts into an atmospheric piano solo and finally rolls out perfectly, this is my favourite to drop live.”

At the moment Solistice hold a residency at Unjust, a monthly drum and bass/breakcore/dubstep night held at The Venue in Preston, Lancashire which is run by Joe along with his partner in crime D.J Halflife They are also expected to plat at Hit and Run in Manchester very soon, and there is no doubt that when you see Solistice perform you are guaranteed a unique experience.

The album will be available on CD and download from the beginning of August on Australian label, Little Rascal Records.
