Meursault

Meursault

July 9th marks the release of Flittin’, the first single to be taken from the forthcoming third album from Edinburgh’s critically acclaimed Meursault - Something For The Weakened - through independent label Song, by Toad Records.

Flittin’ sees the synths and samplers familiar to Meursault’s fans replaced with intricate piano and string arrangements, however at no point is the track anything but Meursault’s signature sound.

With its all-encompassing soundscape, soaring vocals, driving drums, pounding guitar lines and the contrasting opulence of the strings, it is no wonder to see why Flittin’ has fast become a firm live favourite.

Neil Pennycook’s heartwrenching lyrics accompanied by the grand and robust timbre of the band’s wide array of instruments, serves to create the melancholic and sombre resolve to the track, which has won Meursault so much praise.

Recorded at Pumpkinfield Studios near Perth with cellist Pete Harvey at the helm for engineering duties, Meursault found themselves in a very different environment from the recording process of their previous releases in borrowed bedrooms and living rooms.

Seasoned live performers, the band have played many summer festivals, including Glastonbury, End of the Road and Wickerman, as well as touring Europe with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

To coincide with the release of Something For The Weakened, Meursault will play an album launch gig at The Queen’s Hall in their hometown of Edinburgh on Saturday 7th July.

Flittin’ comes out on July 9thahead of the release of Something For The Weakened on July 16th, both through Song, By Toad Recordings.
