Finally releasing his first original track 'Red River' to the public a month ago, featuring Tyler Sjostrom and Martin Wagler, Chris Meid is an artist who's managed to amass a heavy legion of fans already.

Wth over 144,000 plays on the SoundCloud for that track alone, he's looking to become one of the most exciting new artists of this generation. We got the opportunity to put some questions to Chris - read on to find out what he had to share.

For those who may be new to your music, how best would you describe your sound?

My sound is a mixture of catchy emotional melodies, traditional instruments and cool housy drums.

What challenges have you faced in the music industry so far?

The most challenging thing for me was to keep being motivated to create music while my family and some friends kept telling me to 'get a normal job'. But I guess it's quite natural, they were - and still are - worried about my future.

How difficult would you say this career path is in terms of making a name for yourself?

It's really difficult to make one's mark with all the talented artists out there. But if an artist comes up with original concepts, it could become really easy.

How important is it for you to have creative control over the work you produce?

It's quite important for me to have creative control over my work... otherwise it wouldn't be MY work. But sometimes I get really good feedback from the people I work with (label, agency, friends) and then it makes so much sense and I end up changing things.

Where do you draw influence or inspiration from for your work?

My work is inspired by moments of my life and by things I see, hear or feel... I could write a song from looking at random stuff. I think when you are a creative person you kinda see the world with the eyes of a child... and that's perfect to create. People like Michael Jackson, Pharrell Williams, Quincy Jones, influence me a lot. I love their vision of art.

If you could collaborate with anybody going forward, who would you choose and why?

I guess I would choose Avicii because he's just a genius when it comes to melodies! They take me to another world! Furthermore I would of course love to collaborate with my buddy Felix Jaehn, but this time on an original, not on a remix like we already did. Who knows? One day...

Tell us a random, funny fact about you that not many people know.

You might think that I'm weird, but I rarely listen to music in my free time. For me, enjoying moments with friends when there is music playing seems impossible, since I'm always analysing what it's playing. I can't control that. You should check my notes on my mobile phone...

Do you have any definitive aims or goals for your career?

I would love to continue releasing my original songs and also to come up with a really cool live show - which should be an unforgettable experience for the people out there. Besides my personal music project, I would also like to write and produce for other artists and take them to the top of the charts.

Where do you hope to be by this time next year?

This time next year I would love to be touring the world with my live show and to have an original track playing on the radio worldwide.

What should we expect from you in the coming weeks and months?

I'm releasing a 'Red River' EP at the beginning of 2016 with some really dope remixes from some producer friends and also with an emotional piano version that I did. I'm also already working on my second single, that's coming out really soon, too.
