Due to expire this week when it was thought he'd have a return to MMA in Dana White's UFC, Lesnar further explained the decision as a "very hard" one at this point in his career.

"The fighter inside me wants to compete. The father and husband - I'm an older caveman now. I make wiser caveman decisions. So, I'm here to say my legacy in the Octagon is over."

He went on to say that an offer was made from Vince McMahon which he simply couldn't refuse, adding: "I work part-time with full-time pay, which everybody wants."

COO Triple H reacted to the news on Twitter, saying that Brock is a "global attraction" and explaining that the new contract is a "multi-year" one.

This Sunday will see Lesnar compete in the Wrestlemania 31 main event against Roman Reigns with his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line.
