Abe Simpson has topped the odds as favourite to be killed off in 'The Simpsons'.

After the reveal of a major character's death in the 25th season by londstanding executive Al Jean, the loveable family's Grampa Simpson has emerged as the most likely to bite the dust.

According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, the odds on Abe passing away have been slashed from 6/1 to 3/1 after several punters backed his time in Springfield to come to an end.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "There's been a flood of money for Grampa Simpson and the early cash suggests he'll be leaving the show sooner rather than later."

'The Simpsons' producer Bill Schultz has hinted either Grandpa or Sideshow Bob will get the chop from the show, but also said whoever dies could reappear in the programme at some point in the future.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said: "Even if a character was killed, what is to stop them from bringing them back?"

Other short-priced favourites to be killed off include Comic Book Guy (3/1) and teacher Edna Krabappel (7/1), but it is 200/1 for one of the Simpson clan, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa or Maggie, to be killed off.
