The 56-year-old broadcaster - who has already graced the dancefloor as part of the festive edition of the star-studded BBC One Latin and ballroom competition with professional partner Jowita Przystal, 29, in 2021 - feels he “would be in safe hands” with the 33-year-old professional dancer who left the programme after the “traumatic” rehearsal schedule he endured when he first appeared and who he teamed up over the weekend on 'My Life' At Christmas on the same channel.

He told The Sun newspaper’s TVBiz column: “Oti’s a brilliant teacher, and I know I would be in safe hands if she ever decided to return to Strictly as one of the professionals – count me in.

“That doesn’t mean it wasn’t traumatic the first time, though. I was so nervous I can’t recall meeting Oti, although she assures me we did.”

Oti - who is currently expecting her first child with her husband Marius Lepure after departing the show in 2022- recently shared about how “hard” and “overwhelming” competing to impress the judges Shirley Ballas, 63, Anton Du Beke, 57, her sister Motsi Mabuse, 42, and Craig Revel-Horwood after she left the show following her two wins with ex ‘Emmerdale’ star Kelvin Fletcher, 39, and comedian Bill Bailey, 58, in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

She told the ‘All Change’ podcast in September: “Luckily, my husband again has been an amazing person who has seen the dark days, the days where I’m in the shower crying with my clothes on because it’s so hard and it’s so overwhelming.

“He’s seen me not eat, he’s seen me overeat, he’s seen me struggle with not being able to get the best out of someone. He’s seen me having to deal with interesting personalities.”

“So, he’s the person that’s seen the behind the scenes at the point where I’d got to where I was like, ‘I think I’m finished.’ He was like, ‘Yeah I think there’s this new thing that’s got a fire in your stomach. When you’re hosting or talking to people you’re a completely different person.”

“I came from the biggest show on television. Every single human being on this planet, in this country, loves Strictly. People are obsessed.”
