Catherine Tate

Catherine Tate's is to return to screens for Children In Need as her 'Nan' character comes to 'Holby City'.

The 45-year-old comedienne is to take her elderly alter-ego, Joannie 'Nan' Taylor - made famous on 'The Catherine Tate Show' - to the set of 'Holby City' for a one-off sketch that will see her wreak havoc in the show's hospital with her obscenities and crude remarks.

Nan will also be joined by her innocent grandson Jamie - who is played by 'Gavin and Stacy' star Matthew Horne - as she causes chaos for nurse Chrissie Williams (Tina Hobley) and surgeon Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie).

Tina said: "Over the years 'Holby City' has faced flooding, riots and hostage situations - but nothing quite prepared us for the arrival of Nan."

Catherine previously appeared as Nan in a Comic Relief sketch in 2007 on Noel Edmonds' 'Deal or No Deal' game show, on which she abused the other contestants and struck a deal to sell her box for £199 after cheating and finding out her box only contained £50.

The funnywoman has reprised several of her well-known 'Catherine Tate Show' characters for charity over the years, including her infamous portrayal of badly behaved school girl Lauren Copper, who is known for her catchphrase, "Am I bovvered?", for Comic Relief in 2005 alongside then-Prime Minister Tony Blair.
