Claire Sweeney has suffered an injury ahead of her Dancing on Ice debut

The 52-year-old actress is due to make her debut on the ITV1 skating programme on Sunday (21.01.24) alongside professional partner Colin Grafton but an insider has now revealed ahead of her first performance that she is "really gutted" after injuring herself during training and is doing everything she can to get better.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Claire has been training really hard, but has managed to injure herself.

"She’s really gutted and is following the advice to help her back on her feet.

"Everyone’s really hoping she will be OK for Saturday because she’s put so much effort into."

A source close to the ITV skating competition assured fans that the 'Coronation Street' star - who shot to fame playing Lindsey Corkhill in the now-defunct soap opera 'Brookside' before going on to appear in West End musicals like 'Chicago' and '9 to 5' - is in "great hands" with the medical team at the studios.

The insider said: "Claire is in great hands. ITV has medical support on site and health and safety across the board. The stars know the risks when joining the show, but they are full looked after throughout. Everyone wishes Claire a speedy recovery."

Just days ago, the former 'Loose Women' panellist admitted that her professional partner had been "relentless" with her during reharsals and that she has had to "mentally" adapt to training in the rink

Speaking on ITV's 'This Morning', she said: "Colin is so patient and kind - he’s relentless though. Even when I want to shoot to the toilet, he’s looking at me like ‘You’re lying’ What’s interesting about the ice is that you have falls when you least expect it. It’s not only a physical thing, it’s a mental thing. So when I fall - I put my shoulder out the other week and I done my wrist in - it’s getting the confidence [back]. The ice is unforgiving."
