Playing Queen Helena in the new E! series, she revealed that the show is jam-packed with racy plots, insisting her portrayal of the monarch has no resemblence to Queen Elizabeth II.

Emphasising that her role isn't based on the 88-year-old royal, she said to The Sun newspaper: "There's little resemblance. This is an extreme, sexy venture into royalty.

"For me it is sex, drugs, rock n' roll and Windsor Castle."

The controversial drama series also stars Joan Collins as the Grand Duchess of Oxford, William Moseley and Vincent Regan, in a show that follows the fictional royal family, becoming the first scripted series for the US channel.

Elizabeth went on to say why she thinks the show will be a success, stating that the American fascination with the British Royal family should help her turn her career around.

A second series of The Royals has already been commissioned ahead of the first's pilot episode.

However, 'The Royals' is yet to be picked up by any British channels due to fears the UK public will find the series - which includes scenes depicting class A drug use, swearing and sex - disrespectful.
