Susanna Reid has felt the wrath of Jeremy Paxman for agreeing to star in 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The 'Newsnight' presenter has hit out at newsreaders for taking part in the BBC One ballroom show, insisting they are "t***s" who need their "heads examined" for doing the programme.

Speaking on Radio 2, he said: "I will pay good money not to watch newsreaders making t***s of themselves.

"I don't understand why they want to do it. You want your head examined to do that.

"The great discovery is, I think, the off button."

Brunette stunner Susanna has emerged as one the favourites to win the competition after a string of impressive performances.

She is following in the footsteps of newsreader Bill Turnbull, who finished sixth on the show in 2005, and John Sergeant, who quit in 2008 after fans kept voting for him to remain on the competition even though he repeatedly finished bottom of the leaderboard.

But the most impressive BBC contestant was sports presenter Chris Hollins, who won the show in 2009.

Susanna is currently the 9/1 fifth favourite with William Hill to take home the Glitterball Trophy, but she faces stiff competition from the likes of former 'Coronation Street' actress Natalie Gumede (9/4), singer Sophie Ellis Bextor (11/4) and Abbey Clancy (11/2).
