The former 'Big Brother' star has been battling anorexia since childhood and her mother Sue has opened up on her daughter's health during the pandemic.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she said: "We’ve been on this road a long time, 30 years on and off, and I’ve never seen her this bad.

"I’m frightened that I’ll die and she’ll have no one to support her. I don’t want her to go through any of this alone.”

Two of Nikki's friends have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for necessary private treatment and it's gone beyond its initial £25,000 targeted with over £65,000 donated thus far.

Many stars have shown their support for Nikki including Rylan Clark Neal.

Sharing the GoFundMe page, he wrote alongside it: "This is v hard to read but sharing with permission. If some of the family could help in any way I know it would be greatly appreciated. Sending love x (sic)"

The 38-year-old star has since checked into a facility to get the specialised care she requires.

Her mum Sue has explained how Nikki felt "lost" once her fame died down after the early 2000s, although she decided to go back to education after missing out on a lot in her younger years due to her anorexia.

However, last year proved challenging with everything shut down amid the global health crisis.

Sue added: "This last year has just about floored her… From the first lockdown, it was hellish. She struggled because she couldn’t go to the gym.

"Then in December she fell down and cracked her pelvis in two places and broke her wrist. I stayed with her for three or four weeks because she couldn’t do anything.”
