The Krankies

The Krankies are making their return to TV in 'Benidorm'.

The 1970s and 1980s comedy duo - Janette and Ian Tough, who are known for their portrayal of Wee Jimmy Krankie and Jimmy's father - will appear in the ITV sitcom as a husband and wife who check into the programme's Solana Hotel for some holiday fun in the sun.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "We can't wait to welcome The Krankies to The Solana. How will Wee Jimmy Krankie get on with Madge? And what will they make of trannie Les?"

The comedy duo are flying out to Spain this week to start filming the show - which focuses on fictional British families who go on an annual holiday to the all-inclusive Solana Hotel complex in the Spanish resort - alongside other 'Benidorm' newcomers such as 'Dynasty' actress Joan Collins.

The 80-year-old star has landed the role of stern hotel businesswoman Crystal, who soon becomes the enemy of Joyce Temple-Savage (Sherrie Hewson), while Ken Morley - who played Sherrie's onscreen husband Reg Holdsworth in 'Coronation Street' - is also due to appear in the forthcoming series.

Former 'Brookside' actor Philip Olivier has also joined the show, which will see a flurry of familiar faces reprise their roles including hunky barman Mateo (Jake Canuso) as well as Kenny Ireland and Janine Duvitski, who play swingers Donald and Jacqueline.
