Set over a thousand years ago, Netflix original series Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the adventures of some of the most historic and legendary Vikings who have ever lived. Now, we can get a first look at the drama they'll bring in the new show, in a first look trailer (above).

Legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett) is joined by fiery, headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), as tensions between the English royals and Vikings reaches a bloody breaking point.

Combining this with the internal tensions that result in clashes over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs for the Vikings, these three members of the clan begin an epic journey that will take them on a venture unlike anything they've seen before, from Kattegat to England.

Of course, that journey won't be an easy one, and they will have to fight for their survival every step of the way, in a land where you'd be best advised not to kneel to anybody.

Set over a hundred years after the conclusion of the original Vikings series, this is a new adventure which will blend historical authenticity and drama, with artistic licence that leans heavily on gritty and immersive action.

Jeb Stuart serves as showrunner and executive producer, working alongside fellow executive producers Morgan O'Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Paul Buccieri, Sherry Marsh and Alan Gasmer.

Corlett, Gustavsson and Suter will star alongside Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Caroline Henderson, Laura Berlin and David Oakes.
