Anton du Beke has told of how Judy Murray is set to "surprise" fans of Strictly Come Dancing.

The professional dancer has been involved with the BBC One dance talent competition since its creation in 2004, and has insisted Judy will shock her son who said his mother would be "terrible" if she competed.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Anton said: "He knows her better than me, but I think she's going to surprise her son - especially when she goes into the high kicks and backflips in week three."

Adding that her enthusiasm for learning and passion for the show will leave her in good stead, he does acknowledge she may fail to pick up the moves as quickly as some of the other contenders.

"Lady Judy Murray, she's got a lovely posture, a lovely determination and the biggest thing is that she loves the show. That's going to come through. Anybody who loves the show is a friend of mine."

Judy had previously explained how both of her sons Andy and Jamie had responded when she told them her Strictly news.

She said: "Jamie said, 'Oh Mum, you'll love that, you love that show' and Andy said, 'Oh my god, you'll be absolutely terrible.' So, supportive until the end!"

On flipping the tables on her son and having him now watch her compete, she said: "I feel like it's payback time. I can see him slowly sliding underneath the chair in front of him."
