Pauline Bennett

Pauline Bennett

'Big Brother: Power Trip' contestant Pauline Bennett was given control over the house last night in the first of two launch shows.

The 49-year-old dance teacher won a public vote to earn the first power trip of the series and with her newfound status, Pauline was instructed to reward a fellow housemate whilst punishing another.

The former rapper - who appeared on Kylie Minogue's 1991 single 'Shocked' as Jazzy P - picked Mark Byron, 24, to receive the reward, citing their mutual love of singer Mariah Carey, and picked "intolerant" Matthew Davies, 23, to be punished.

Pauline watched all of the housemates' introductory VT clips and decided on Matthew, who admitted he loves to "stir up drama" and show off his intelligence.

Both housemates were placed in glass boxes, but while Mark was given £5,000 in cash, Matthew was forced to spend the night in the glass box, which was elevated high up off the ground.

Pauline, Mark and Matthew were joined in the Big Brother house by seven other housemates, including former prostitute Helen Wood - who famously had a three-in-a-bed romp with football ace Wayne Rooney - journalist Christopher Hall, Catholic lingerie model Danielle McMahon, Playboy bunny Kimberly Kisselovich, Steven Goode, headhunter Tamara Stewart-Wood and Essex boy Winston Showan.

Six more contestants will join them in the house tonight (06.06.14) in the second part of the two-night launch event.
