Jennifer Gibney has explained that filming Strictly Come Dancing makes her miss her family.

As an actress on Mrs Brown's Boys, she's used to working alongside her husband Brendan O'Carroll and their children on the set of his hugely successful sitcom, but since joining the Strictly line-up, she's had to get used to working solo.

Speaking at the press launch for the show in London, she said: "It's a bit odd because I do miss my family, because I'm used to working with them. But I have my new family. When you do a different project, that's what happens - your family just gets bigger."

She added it felt "strange" to be working on such a serious show, but insisted her loved ones are supporting her all the way and can't wait to see her live performances.

Asked about whether they'll be visiting, Jennifer replied: "Absolutely, try and stop them!"

Strictly Come Dancing launched last night on BBC One, as celebrity competitors were paired with professionals.
