Bosses of the Ballroom and Latin show have had the 34-year-old actress on their wish list for years but are hoping they can persuade her to join this year's line-up now that she's not tied up shooting the now-finished drama 'Downton Abbey'.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "'Strictly' bosses have been trying to get her on the show for years. But she's always been tied down to ITV because she was in a contract with them, and filming with 'Downton' would always overlap with 'Strictly'. Now she's not working for ITV they've [the BBC] pounced on her. They know she could be a star attraction."

And it seems this year could finally be the one bosses get their own way as the brunette beauty recently admitted she would love to take part on the popular programme because she's always had a knack for hip-snaking and quick footwork.

She said previously of the BBC One show: "I'd actually quite like to do that. I'm a dancer, so that's my thing."

However, Michelle is currently living in the US while she films the 10-part thriller 'Good Behaviour' and will then kick off work on her new blockbuster 'The Sense Of An Ending'.

The actress has kept a low-profile since she tragically lost her fiancé John Dineen to brain cancer last year.
