1. Trial and references

Have your make up trial at least 4 months before to allow for changes that you may need. Take some references with you. Coming from a make up artists point of view it's much easy to get an idea of what look the bride is after and their style if they supply pictures.

2. Individual lashes

I always recommend individual lashes for every bride and mother of the bride. They add thickness and length to outer corners of the eye. And really make you feel ultra glamorous for your big day. Try applying a separating mascara before the lashes to make it easy to slot in the lashes to you lash line.

3. The real secret to great skin?

Water, water water! Drink lots of wonderful H2o leading up to and during the wedding day to keep skin looking dewy and plump. Planning and running around last minute for the wedding can be exhausting so healthy eating is a must and avoid alcohol especially night before!

4. How to get that all over glow?

Lips, body and face should all be exfoliated to increase the look of smooth glowy skin. For the body use a loofah or brush with a body scrub. There are also some amazing face scrubs on the market at the moment, and for the lips try lightly brushing them with a soft tooth brush to remove dread skin cells once a week.

5. When thinking about what look you want for your bridal make up

I recommend going for a natural look, and no make up trends! So no blue eyeliner and green eyeshadows! Keep it simple and just try to highlight your features. Think of a red carpet look. Browns, neutrals and bronzes, even with a classic red lip, finish the skin with a soft highlighter.

6. Waterproof eyes!

Let's face it, most of us will shed a tear or two on the big day and may sweat whilst jumping around at the party later on. Waterproof mascara and eyeliners are a must! Scuba Pro is a super black and waterproof mascara and Smudge Proof eyeliner is a 24 hour water proof liner that's is tear and sweat proof, both are from Lord & Berry. I recommend using these round the eyes to guarantee no panda eyes!

7. Top ups!

Make sure you have the lipstick your make up artist uses on you during the day for top ups. There will definitely be need for lipstick tops ups with all the kissing and smiling on the day! I also recommend a pressed powder to reduce shine in photos for a super matte finish.

8. Allow at least 1 hour for application.

Timing is crucial for hair and make up on the morning of the big day. This is the time you really need to enjoy with your bridesmaids and family. Allow at least one hour for your bridal make up. Especially if you as doing it yourself as you don't want any stress. I recommend making a schedule for everyone who wants hair and make up, just so there is no last minute rush.

9. Facials

Getting your skin prepped can be one of the most enjoyable experiences before your wedding. I recommend getting at least two facials, 2 weeks apart before the big day. This will help to minimise pores, exfoliate the skin and the make up will sit a lot better and last a lot longer on the skin.

10. Eye bright

The skin around your eyes can take a real beating during stressful and tiring times. To help with dark circles drink lots of water but also remove your eye make up with a gentle remover such as Lord & Berry 2Phases Waterproof Makeup Remover. This will remove all traces of make up easily and quickly, without the need to rub and damage skin around the eyes.
