A health map of England has been released highlighting the areas of the country with the best and worst health.

Naturally there is a north-south divide with the Noth West cities of Manchester and Liverpool languishing at the bottom of the national health league.

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea topped the league. Life expectancy for men in these areas of London is 82.2 years which exceeds the national average of 76.9.

Women are predicted to live 86.2 years which is alo above the national average of 81.1 years.

However it's doom an gloom in the North West as the survey shows that living in Manchester or Liverpool with cut your life short.

The life expectency for men living in Manchester is 72.5 years and 78.1 years for women living in Liverpool.

Manchester unfortunately can also boast the title of highest level of early deaths from heart disease and stroke 151.3 per 100,000 compared with just 44.9 per 100,000 in East Dorset.

Public Health Minister Caroline Flint said: Information about health and wellbeing in your local area is essential for assessing the needs of the local population and monitoring how well health improvement strategies are working.

"One of our priority areasis smoking - we already know 10 million adults smoke, but knowing where the local problemareas are helps target quit smoking programmes effectively."
