Brits are finding it hard to give up the bad stuff in the diet

We might have made resolutions for a healthier lifestyle, but are we sticking to them? New research shows that most are finding it difficult to resist the urge to indulge.

The study found that while 7 out of 10 Brits want to be healthier in 2014, a staggering 3 in 4 refuse to give up their favoruite food and drink indulgences.

Tea and coffee has been revealed as our most cherished indulgence, with 46% unwilling to give up their daily bew under any circumstances followed by 31% unable to give up sweets and another 31% unable to resist a good steak or burger.

Not even vanity or personal happiness can stand between Brits and their tummies, as nearly 3 in 4 surveyed said they wouldn’t give up their favourite food to be skinny, 84% wouldn’t give them up to be beautiful and 62% wouldn’t even give them up to be loved.

Even when Brits stick to their diet for a week, a whopping 86% reward themselves by indulging with alcohol or their favourite chocolate cake at the weekend.

Mark Brooks, Truvia® business enterprise leader explains, “The research demonstrates the complexity of modifying eating habits in the New Year. British consumers feel compelled to sacrifice food favourites in order to cut calories when they can have the best of both worlds. We’re constantly exploring ways to help consumers achieve this balance.”
