Is your gym filled with people taking selfies?

Thanks to Kim Kardashian and other celebs, selfies, belfies and many other variations are dominating our lives, and it seems they’re ruining our workouts too.

Disgruntled gym goers have spoken out that a selfie in the gym is the most annoying thing.

Velocity Health & Fitness part of Village Urban Resorts have revealed that 76% of gym users are most annoyed by fellow fitness enthusiasts taking endless photos of themselves pre, post and even during workouts.

What’s more the study of 2,4000 adults has revealed that 70% of those asked found men to the most vain in the gym, whether flexing muscles or fixing their hair in the mirror.

Despite these infuriating pet peeves, in true Brit fashion, a whopping 84% wouldn’t voice their concerns about poor gym etiquette to a member of staff.

Other annoyances ruining the UK’s workouts include distasteful clothing being worn – including tight tank tops, ill-fitting lycra and impractical wedge trainers. It also seems that Brits are upholding their prudish reputation as 62% expressed concerns at the unnecessary levels of nakedness in the changing rooms.

Village Urban Resorts has listened to the disgruntled public by looking to introduce gym marshals to protect the peace and ensure all in a Velocity Health & Fitness club can exercise without distraction. Health & Fitness Director for Village Urban Resorts, Chris Southall comments: “For our guests, the gym is a place to get away from it all, release some endorphins and work up a sweat. That’s why at our Village Urban Resort Health & Fitness Clubs – including the three new properties set to open shortly in Scotland – we’re looking to introduce gym marshals to ensure energy is exhausted on the equipment and not on other gym goers bad habits.”
