Online dating can be a wonderful, fun experience, where you can meet the person of your dreams, or it can be a nightmare...
There are many apps and sites you can go to in order to seek out true love, with Tinder being one of the most popular.
The Tinder Swindler is an upcoming feature documentary premiering exclusively on Netflix early next month (February, 2022).
Perhaps the world's most popular dating app, Tinder was released all the way back in 2012. Users swipe right to ‘like’ the profile of someone else, or swipe left to ‘dislike’ a user’s profile, and prevent yourself from seeing them again.
A Tinder profile consists of a photo, bio, and a list of their interests; a little like a Twitter or Facebook profile. As of last year (2021), there are around 57 million users, with around 55 billion matches already been made.
From the makers of Don’t F**k with Cats, The Tinder Swindler follows the story of Cecilie, who knows just how hard it can be to find love online; however, when she matches with a gorgeous, sexy billionaire playboy, she can’t believe her luck when he turns out to be everything she wanted.
Despite this magical, movie-like romance, Cecilie discovers that her perfect partner, an international business man, isn’t who he says he is; and by the time she figures it out, it’s too late...
He’s taken everything from her; so, Cecilie swaps a fairytale for a revenge story.
Cecilie takes it upon herself to find this ‘ideal man’s’ other targets and, once they unite, they are no longer his victims; The Tinder Swindler has met his match.
This thrilling feature documentary follows Cecilie and The Swindler’s other victims as they uncover his true identity, and battle to bring him to justice.
The trailer gives a great insight into the style of the film, and suggests that it will go into great detail in regards to the con man, his crimes, true personality and who he really is...
The Tinder Swindler will be available to watch exclusively on Netflix on February 2nd, 2022.
