Hayley Newton shares some tips

As I know that many of you are trying to achieve, or maintain, a good level of physical fitness, I thought it would be nice to share with you some of my personal favourite exercises.

I guarantee that if you faithfully do these exercises on a daily basis, you will get into the best shape of your life. Let's face it - fat, lazy and gasping for every breath is not the new SEXY. If any of you find fat, lazy and gasping for every breath SEXY, I do recommend a different therapy?

It's well known that people who exercise for as little as 15 minutes a day, have a 14 percent lower mortality risk than people who don't exercise at all. Now what’s 15 minutes in a day?

One of the easiest unusual exercises is the Gluteus Pinch. Though this may sound silly, you can do this exercise even whilst queuing in the supermarket. It's quick and easy to do so why not give it a try?

This exercise is really simple to do. Just stand upright while positioning your hands on your hips. Then, squeeze your buttock muscles together. The muscles here are important as a foundational muscle group. It's so easy. You can do this unusual exercise at any time of the day you choose, and just do it for a few minutes. And ladies, it's also extremely good for the pelvic floor ;)

Now how about banishing that back fat (hello, backless dress!).

To do this exercise: Stand nice and tall with your feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent. Hold a dumbbell (or small bottled water) in each hand with your arms straight down in front of your body. Keeping your abs strong and back straight the whole time, slowly bend forward at your hips to lower the weights toward the floor, with your hands directly under your shoulders. For the row, bend your elbows as you pull your arms up along the sides of your body and bring your shoulder blades together. Lower the weights back toward the floor. Return to standing, squeezing your buttocks and thighs (it’s the squeeze that really helps lift and shape your butt). Repeat for 1 minute.

If you want to get beautifully toned arms and shoulders, I would definitely recommend body weight exercises.

I know that many people recommend weight training but, although weight training is excellent for muscle toning, forcing yourself to lift very heavy loads can have a down side such as injury or soreness to the joints (particularly the shoulders). You can avoid this and still build incredible muscle with the right exercises.

Personally, I love bodyweight exercises. That are absolutely the best way for women to train simply because most women have far less time than men (as we are ruling the world ;) )
For example, to build great arms and shoulders you can’t go wrong with handstand press ups. Bring the kid out in yourself and handstand against the wall. Holding your own weight will tone those arms. Hold for 20 seconds a hand stand, but mind that head rush.

The last exercise I would recommend is hula hooping. Not only is this a great way to burn calories but it is a fantastic way to tone your mid section. Plus it's quiet so it's a great exercise to do while watching TV for 5 minutes or, with the summer coming up, this is a great exercise to do with your friends whilst having fun in the sun at the park.

Et Voila ! That's your 15 minute workout session done and dusted…

These exercises are fun, simple and best of all EFFECTIVE! So go on.. What are you waiting for? You can do it!
